Is it just those exchanges that are fibre enabled that are having their connection type change to PPPoA?

I'm still on mer & there's no sky fibre here yet.
BT started taking orders for infinity (on all cabs) in april though.

That's what I meant. Are Sky only moving people to PPPoA when they start to sell fibre on that exchange, so all the fibre connections use MER?

Re: Sky Connections Changing from MER to PPPoA

so all the fibre connections use MER?
Yes, but no one, apart from the very senior Sky staff know why some connections are being moved back to PPPoA. There is no confirmation yet if this is only happening on fibre enabled exchanges.
It is a surprising move as by some accounts PPPoA is more expensive to implement than MER. It may only be a few pence per connection, but when you multiply that with possibly millions it amounts to a considerable sum.

Re: Sky Connections Changing from MER to PPPoA

Can fibre and ADSL connections both use MER at the exchange? I suppose, in time, most if not all Sky users will be on fibre where it's available so not sure if there's any advantage to separate the userbase by the connection type?

I may have just reset the poll by accident as I was looking to add multiple answers and add Fibre / ADSL connection type, but failed.
you will NEVER get PPPoA on fibre with the current openreach setup.

PPPoE maybe but PPPoA isn't possible unless it's done on the modem itself.

Sky Fibre connections are only MER. PPPoA is an ADSL/ADSL2+ protocol and not something that is compatible with Fibre connections.
      itype and mattan like this.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
