I have no idea but it must be 5GB or less as I don't really download that much apart from the odd program here and there.

I'm capped at 2Gb a month, in reality I only download the odd MP3 here and there so I don't need a massive allowance.

I can see people downloading 100Gb + falling fowl of Skys fair usage policy on Sky Max Especially if it's P2P.

I download the latest blockbusters, american TV shows (Lost, Stargate Atlantis .. ) and the odd album and still only register about 30Gb a month according to my old ISP.

Currently on Bt waiting to get my letters and activation from sky on 17th

with BT at a 40 GB cap, i havent exceeded it, download TV shows (350mb ones) stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and also download the odd DVDRip (750MB) maybe about 4 DVD rips a months, on top of them i download albums and music, I am going to be screwed if sky use traffic shaping most of my stuff is downloaded via p2p so i hope they dont enforce traffic shaping (its a crap idea if you ask me)

what happens if someone decides to download a valid distrubution of linux via lets say a torrent website, or via a p2p application such as LimeWire?

I am sure microsoft even let people download the latest release of windows vista RC1 via torrent, so if microsoft are sporting it and sky are blocking it then it doesn't make sense to me. Traffic shaping assumes a lot about what people are downloading just by looking at how they are downloading it, and for this reason its a bad idea.
