    Sky Fair Usage Policy

This is a discussion on Sky Fair Usage Policy within the Polls forums, part of the Website news category; I know this is a silly point, but this is very flexible so they don't have to worry about it ...

I know this is a silly point, but this is very flexible so they don't have to worry about it most of the time!

Also, part (e) talks about your email account, this could also be in place for those that wish to use the sky email system to spam, and gives them the get out clause to cancel your account.
So don't just think that this is in place just for the downloads!

      Hi All. My first post.

I have read a great deal about FUP and for a lot of peeps it won't come into play but if,(like me ) there is heavy usage then either a penalty charge per excess gb is applied or speed drastically reduced. With this in mind, having suffered slooow d/load speed with Demon,Tiscali and Pipex I signed up with BT,who for the sum of 19.99 pm gives me 8mb max but with a massive 300gb usage pm. which is more than enough for what I use, but it's always handy to have some in reserve.

      Hi Kickass.
Be warned!! if you get anywhere near that with BT Broadband, then you will find your download speed capped.

I have one thing to say about sending spam email from the sky email system they do enforce this rule i have had lots of people came through and had their router suspended because of it and then they tell you to format your hard drive and if it happens again they take more serious action and they can cancel your broadband account for it.

But would you say that is a bad thing? If people in this day and age cannot or will not protect their systems against SPAM is it not reasonable for the ISP to put them under pressure to do so? SPAM is a blight upon all of us, it costs enormous amounts of money, and is responsible for something like 80% or more of all Internet traffic! Conservative estimates are between 45% - 95% of all Internet traffic being SPAM

I'm with Sky or any other ISP who takes direct action against SPAM zombies if the customer will not when advised to.

i think i came close to exceeding the limits a few weeks ago when i was dowloading several game demos, the connection would drop intermittently and firefox would not resume the download after the router reconnected which meant i had to restart the download wasting my 'allowance'.

      Re: Sky Fair Usage Policy

Sky have not enforced any limits so far, so I would hazard a guess and call it coincidence.

One of our members obliterated the so called Max caps within 3 days or so and didn't have any restrictions applied as such.
