Am I right in saying that there may be a software update available that will allow it to run the iplayer ?
Could well be. But I'm not sure how new the Blu Ray player has to be to be able to have the iPlayer widget. Just connect it to the net and see what you get

Cheers I will give it a try, well maybe not mines a 360 and doing a bit of googling it seems you need a 370 or newer. Ah well never mind.

Well just to join the debate...

I was mentioning the iPlayer to someone as a way of watching programmes they'd missed and mentioned that to see it on TV you'd need some kind of set-top box such as a Humax foxsat, and I thought, I have a foxsat box so why not give it a try...

... and I'm very impressed. It works very well, the better quality version is at least as good as SD broadcast quality and no dropouts on this line either. Its easily to navigate via the menu system with the remote and I'll certainly be using it more often. Nice work BBC!

I am lucky in that my Tv and Blu-Ray player has the iplayer built in and the quality just for SD is superb and HD programs simply stunning.
