Re: Sky Player or BBC iPlayer

BBC player much better at streaming, sky player has great potential but they need to do something about the system and the servers for streaming.

I know this because I can stream SKY through my Slingbox at better quality and no buffering comparied to the constant every 30second to 1 minute buffering that takes place on the sky player.
Obviously downloading and playing on Sky Player this works without problems but live is really very bad.

Same PC. BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and CH5 have no issues using these. If they really want to compete On Demand systems they really need to improve the service.

I get the BBC iPlayer on my new Panasonic Viera 46" plasma - excellent pictures on the higher definition iPlayer service !

I have it via my Sony Blu-Ray player and again it is a superb picture, especially the HD stuff. It is currently in Beta mode on the Sony Bravia's but the picture at present is pretty poor and it even cut off after 20 minutes of watching a program the other day but hopefully the full service isn't to far away.

I get BBC iPlayer in exactly the same way from my Sony Blu Ray player. I've got to admit, its a lot better been able to watch it on the TV, rather than on the laptop or monitor.

I was very surprised at the picture quality too. I expected it would be a bit blocky with it been on a large screen, but its a better quality picture than watching it on my computer monitor. At present, I am disappointed with the BBC iPlayer through my Bravia TV. It would seem that the BBC iPlayer service has been out longer on the Blu Ray players, and as such, the iPlayer via the Bravia TV's is some way behind.

Look in the back, if you see some big glowing red bulbs, it is time you upgraded.

I think it came to the Blu-Ray player back in March just days after I brought mine as it updated a few days after I picked it up and it was there. For the TV I noticed a couple of weeks ago but it just said it was "coming soon" and it was only on Saturday that you could access it but it isn't worth using it at present but I have no doubt that before launch it will be as good as the Player version.

I just got my Sony Bravia TV around a month ago (the Blu Ray player came has part of the 3D kit). Definitely the iPlayer on the Blu Ray player is more polished and overall better. In time with the TV's version been some way behind, I think it will be has good as the Blu Ray player's version of the iPlayer.

Mmmmmm, interesting, my Sony bdp hasnt been connected to the internet for ages.
Am I right in saying that there may be a software update available that will allow it to run the iplayer ?
