Go to the netgear.com site's Forums and look for any posting by jmizoguchi -- links on his posts will show you how to do various depths of reset. One of them may clear your problem.

Cool Re: New FW for V1 Router - Is it any better?

Since upgrading, my speed has dropped slightly, had to change channnel (no hardship) as I kept getting no connection via wireless. Have had to reboot a few times. Will give it a week or so, then maybe blag a V2 router just for the heck of it

Re: New FW for V1 Router - Is it any better?

Well I upgraded the firmware myself on my Sky V1 Router before putting it onto my network. I have been using a Speedtouch 585v6 since I got Sky due to major issues with the router but now since the firmware upgrade the router seems solid at the moment. My connection is around 3200kbps with 62db attenuation and noise margin around 7db whcih is more or less what I had under my Speedtouch Router.

The Upnp bug seems to have gone which was causing all my issues before, had to change the wireless channel from 11 to 6, on 11 the PC can see the router but can't obtain an IP, resolved by changing to channel 6, bizarre!

Anyway will monitor the sitution, hopefully it stays stable as I am moving away from home next week and my partner is shifting there Sky account to the new house as my folks would like to keep sky going once I go and Sky make it impossible to transfer ownership of an account into someone elses name.

We will be ordering Sky BB, we'll hopefully get the V2 router for it, one thing is certain fun times lay ahead for us both!

Well i have the new firmware and is very good but have a question.

I have found that i have a dodgy microfilter and it was connected to the router but put it onto one of the Sky boxes i seen the download speed sync increase and upstream Noise Margin decrease. I think that this is a good result by fitting the router with a microfilter which works but still think that the non working microfilter interferes with the router a little bit. If i get a new microfilter from Sky and replace it with the non working one will i see a increase in download speed as there will hopefully be no interference?

If you have any faulty filters on your circuit the chances are that interference will creep in. For the best you can get replace any suspect filters you have. ADSL Nation do a superb filter (see my sig).

Thanks for the offer NR but it's alright. You are very generous.

Sky + Free = 0 It is very unlikely that Sky would do that. Filters are quite cheap, although I wouldn't recommend budget filters really. The ADSL Nation filter is not the most expensive, but it is superb quality and design. And they deliver very quickly too - 36 hours in my case.

Or you could try your local Computer Fair, I've seen ADSL filters there for around 1.50 a pop .....

Re: New FW for V1 Router - Is it any better?

Well i am very impressed. My Noise Margin used to have to be set at 10 for me to get a decent connection (dropping my sync rate to about 12000) but now I leave it alone.

It started around 14000, but it has steadily gone up to now about 15000, with my Noise Margin around 6.6 right now.
