Re: Poll on forced Firmware Upgrade

The majority are voting for Sky to do
whatever it wants, whenever it wants.
And not giving customers a choice to
upgrade immediately or decide for themselves
      if and when to upgrade.
The T&Cs say they can and that’s what they
are doing – with majority support.
If you don’t like it, go.

In all fairness Murdock, it surprised me. I thought more people would have the same view as yourself. Even though I disagree with that view. I would welcome any changes that make things more stable for people.

Having visited these forums every day since we started them, it is just frustrating for myself to see people struggle through no fault of their own. Infact that is exactly the reason why we started these forums - to help people get out of Sky Broadband and Sky products exactly what they should expect.

Although I appreciate your views, the new update will help an awful lot of people get to this goal.

Re: Poll on forced Firmware Upgrade

Yea, agree, its Sky's trainset, they can do what they like with it. We just get to play with it at their agreement and conditions.

I've helped a few of my locals out with issues with their Phase 1 Sky routers. All were resolved by working on their cabling. I wonder, then, if the Phase 1 are just way too intolerant of any issues relating to the cabling in house or to the exchange.

One has to wonder what on earth Netgear actually did to their own firmware when they customised it for Sky - or was the version of firmware that they adapted so flaky in the first place. I digress.

The intention is that this firmware upgrade is for the good of the many - there will be a few who will not do so well by it. One has to hope that Sky are ready and prepared to help these customers out rather than lose them. They do not like customer churn, and so it would be wise if contingencies were made.
It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.
