Would you like to see Sky Officially Post on this website?

A few people have suggested that we run a poll, to see if members think they could benefit by having Sky officially post on SkyUser.

As for our stance, Sky are more than welcome to do so, however we would not bow down to them and remove posts or comments for the sake of it. Only those that are rude, or personal.

We believe that people should have the right to say if a product is good or bad, so others can benefit from these experiences. However there are different ways to achieve different things.

Re: Would you like to see Sky Officially Help on this website?

To be honest everyone is going to say yes. and just to be the odd one out I said no!

Anyway back on topic, sky staff are not going to visit every forum in order to make statements because well that's just a waste of time. Hense the reason why the posted on DS and only DS!

DS has to be the biggest forum when it comes to this type of stuff, however im not putting skyuser down. It would be nice to see more individuals who work for sky chip in and actually help people/customers with their problems just like on cable forum.

If Sky did post on here in an official capcity then you guys and girls would have to keep a close on eye on things because you can see that people do at times get frustrated if things are not going well for them and if they go answers from the Sky rep that they didn't like then things could get heated. But I'm sure you guys would have things in hand.

What you mean? silence us if we disagree?

Considering how long DS has been around and sky have only just made a post I doubt they will be posting anywhere else anytime soon. Even on DS but hey I could be wrong!

my view, and its just that it hink sky will find it very hard to post on here in a official capacity as they simply don't admin the forum. Thus making it much harder. Not putting sky user down, great forum great community!

That's because DS has 200k of users, and have been around for ages. And because their Satellite section is highly respected, as well as having a huge influence.

One day I think, we will achieve what we want, however like Alan has pointed out, people who are upset with Sky tend to be very vocal and start shouting or getting personal on forums.

Put yourself in Sky's position, or if you employ people, would you put your staff forward to receive a mouthful off someone behind a keyboard?

If Sky staff did post on here, we would back them all the way, as long as people were not rude or aggressive, we would have no problem. However I know that we would have to moderate a lot more than we do now. We try to run a fair forum and tbh 99.9% of people are ok with that and our decisions or the way that we do things. We do not want to be heavy handed or dictate to people what they can or cannot say. However we occasionally have to draw the line.

If any of my staff were subject to it, I would always be on that member of staffs side. My staff are not paid to be shouted at or to be called names, especially when I know deep down they are great individuals, at the end of the day, they are paid to do their job. The minute a customer starts shouting or swearing, that customer loses the argument.

However I do concede that their is a communication issue, and probably also a training issue, this is Sky's problem, not their employees. Only Sky can resolve that and the sooner they do, the sooner they will clean up the market for broadband. Do you really think that Sky want to be bad mouthed? I don't, and I am sure that, hopefully Sky do take on board what they read, and if it is from here or DS, as long as they act on it, it means a fairer deal for people like you and me.

I am lucky as in that I do not need to ring for technical help etc, but what about Joe Bloggs? Who is 98 years old and has not got a clue? This is where Sky need to get their service right. So that these people get an enjoyable experience.

My personal belief, is that if people are firm, fair and constructive, they will achieve far more that way. No matter how annoyed anyone is, it does not give anyone the right to speak to another individual (who is human and just doing their job) rudely or offensively or even aggressively. If you went to their Head Office and did it, you would soon find yourself in serious trouble.

Forums are an easy way for people to vent their anger, and you will always get rude people, that's life.

We have never silenced anyone. The only time we have removed posts are:

      1) By OP request.

      2) Because it was rude or personal.

      3) It was commercially sensitive (We have removed 1 in this cat)

      4) Because that user was banned and the reason for was what was written in that persons post.

      5) Spammed advertisements

We 100% believe people should say what they want, if Sky do not like what they read, they can make things better so it is not repeated.

If Sky were to post on here, we would not give them access to the moderation panel, or let them call any shots. Its our forum for our users. But we would remove posts that fall into any of the 5 reasons above.
