      Usenet Problems with port 119, 7000 & 25 blocked

Since Tuesday I have had problems downloading stuff from Usenet when i use port 119.

If i use port 80 i can download binaries through my newsreader, but not 119 which i always used, and at a faster speed.

the binaries also need repair becasue of the chopy intermittent downloads i get on port 80

I tried port 7000 and it appears to be blocked, as does port 25

When i use port 119, the router resets itself and im locked out of usenet for 30 minutes each time, although the ip is no different.

      Msn and skype also reset

Are sky traffic shaping or trying to prevent people accessing usenet binaries?

I have not reached my cap so i feel im being punished unfairly for this.

I am on the max package on the Edgware Middlesex exchange

I never had this problem with Uk online and only moved to sky when i was told it was the same company, but you'll get the tv service thrown in for free.

Migration took an hour after the new router arrived and that was the only disruption i had.

Its been fine for 3 months, now all of a sudden this.

Im also wondering if this could be the router
I am using the original netgear router suppled by sky, not the new one.

I am using the grabit newsreasder and giganews usenet provider

I have spoken to giganews and they tell me they have had no problems reported.

I have nt bothered with sky yet, as i have not had much luck speaking with them in the past.
      Any help appreciated guys

I use usenet most days and always at max speed, think the problem could be with your router being overloaded. Try turning off UPNP solved my issues

I use Giganews and Newsbin Pro. No problems connecting through port 80, which was at the suggestion of Giganews.
