A private tracker is a tracker that requires users to register before they can use the torrent. A public tracker, on the other hand, is free for anyone to use. It does not require registrations, uploads, or indexes anywhere. Nonetheless, if you want to speed up torrent downloads, you may want to choose healthy seeds and peers, choose the right client, increase your connection speed, limit your upload rate, and get through the firewall.

      Re: what speeds...torrent downloads?

The nature of how torrents work really depends on who is seeding.

Whilst it is true to say that you need more seeders, ultimately it actually depend on who is seeding and what speed they are seeding at. 100 connected seeders who can each stream at 10kB/s will not match 1 seed box which can stream the whole content to you by maxing out your connect speed.

On private torrent sites you are more likely to get people with seed boxes than public torrent sites, but some do operate there too.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Private sites are where you want to get your movie fixes from! No fakes, no rubbish and the best speeds possible. Check out Btracs.com for current private sites that are open for sign-up.
