Sky Broadband Unlimited Goes FREE for the First Year of UK Service

Sky Broadband Unlimited Goes FREE for the First Year of UK Service - ISPreview UK
UK ISP Sky Broadband has announced that their standard ‘up to’ 17Mbps unlimited broadband and free weekend calls package has been reduced in price, making it free for the first 12 months of service (£7.50 per month thereafter). On top of that new customers will also be able to benefit from a £100 M&S e-voucher.

As usual the service isn’t completely free because customers will also be required to take Sky’s Phone Line Rental for £16.40 per month and there’s also the 12 month contract period to consider.

Otherwise the service includes a free wireless router (SkyHub), Sky Shield (Parental Controls and Anti-Malware), unlimited access to WiFi Hotspots from The Cloud and unlimited data usage.

Anybody who wants something faster should note that Sky Fibre Unlimited (up to 38Mbps FTTC) is currently on offer at half-price for £10 per month (first six months).

I wonder is this will apply to existing users who take a new 12 month contract?

Re: Sky Broadband Unlimited Goes FREE for the First Year of UK Service

Considering that other ISPs are offering similar deals, I would suggest to anyone considering moving to contact Sky first to see if retentions will offer something for them.

Tip: Always remember to be nice when on the phone. The people in retentions have targets and allowances and being nice to them really can help.

Ultimately be prepared to switch, but never instruct your existing ISP to cancel your connection until the new one is established. If you are staying on the BTO network, whether through Sky or another ISP, you should place the order with the new ISP and they will normally process the cancellation.
