      Sky Broadband Unlimited Goes FREE for 12 Months and Tweaks Prices

      Sky Broadband Unlimited Goes FREE for 12 Months and Tweaks Prices - ISPreview UK
      UK ISP Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has today tweaked its standard unlimited broadband and phone bundle prices and begun offering the service free for the first 12 months of service (£7.50 thereafter). In addition, customers will get a £100 Marks & Spencers voucher or alternatively the option of a free Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 if they bundle in with a Sky TV service.

      As usual the service isn’t completely free because customers, whether new or existing, will also be required to take Sky’s Phone Line Rental for £15.40 per month and not forgetting that all of this comes with a 12 month contract. But of most interest is the fact that the standard broadband price has been reduced from £10 to £7.50 per month (this price use to only be available if you also took a Sky TV package).

      On top of that it’s also worth remembering that Sky are still offering their superfast broadband Sky Fibre Unlimited (FTTC) service for £10 per month for the first six months of service (£20 thereafter) and those who take the Sky Sports Bundle + Sky Broadband Unlimited can separately get 24 months of free broadband.

      Sky BB Unlimited + Free Weekend Calls

      * Up to 17Mbps “typical” download speeds (20Mbps max)

      * Truly unlimited downloads
      * Inclusive weekend UK calls
      * Free Sky Hub Wireless Router – £6.95 delivery charge
      * Free Unlimited access to WiFi Hotspots from The Cloud
      * Sky Shield (Parental Controls and Anti-Malware)
      * 12 Month Contract
      * £100 M&S voucher

      PRICE: £FREE for the first 12 Months (£7.50 thereafter) + Line Rental

      Sky Fibre Unlimited + Free Weekend Calls

      * Up to 38Mbps “typical” download speeds
      * Truly unlimited downloads
      * Inclusive weekend UK calls
      * Free Sky Hub Wireless Router – £6.95 delivery charge
      * Free Unlimited access to WiFi Hotspots from The Cloud
      * Sky Shield (Parental Controls and Anti-Malware)
      * 18 Month Contract
      * £100 M&S voucher

      PRICE: £10 Per Month for the first 6 Months (£20 thereafter) + Line Rental

      Sadly Sky no longer offers a pre-paid line rental discount, so some may wish to factor that into their comparisons. Sky also offer a 30 day Broadband and Talk Satisfaction Guarantee to new customers, which applies within the first 30 days of all your services being activated (note: refunds apply to subscription charges only – not set-up charges or non-inclusive call charges).

      Sky’s deals are currently quite competitive as they’ve been re-adjusted to tackle free BTSport TV and other offers currently being promoted by BT. As usual these discounts only apply to those covered by Sky’s unbundled LLU network or FTTC areas, while the last 5-10% of predominantly rural locations won’t be able to benefit.
      Important note: This offer was launched on 29th August 2014. I've checked today and it appears to still be available but I am unsure for how long. All offers from Sky have a time limit.

      Her calendar is a month fast.

      But of most interest is the fact that the standard broadband price has been reduced from £10 to £7.50 per month (this price use to only be available if you also took a Sky TV package).
      I wonder if they will play the game and apply this to old customers who are paying £10?

      Hmmm... nice idea. I wonder if I would get away with paying £25 for the full package, just like in the late 90s?

      Standalone broadband supplement is going soon but existing customers still paying it will need to recontract for 12 months but the removal will be permanent.

      About time that this was removed, but I do think that the charge should just be dropped across the board irrespective of people recontracting with Sky.

      Re: Sky Broadband Unlimited Goes FREE for 12 Months and Tweaks Prices

      It is the same as what happened to Broadband Max when Broadband Unlimited was introduced. Essentially they were the same product except for £2.50 difference in the monthly cost.

      To change from Max to Unlimited required customers to enter into a new twelve month contract. I wonder if there is still anyone on the max product either because they are unaware of the lower cost or because they were unwilling to renew their contract.
