    rumour about 2009 offers

This is a discussion on rumour about 2009 offers within the Offers forums, part of the Sky & Sky+ TV category; Is it not 299 for a HD recorder? With only 2 channels, one being part time?...

FreesatHD or Freesat+ may not be that successful, but I don't see why Freesat itself will fail.

The HD side of things has to fail, at those prices. Sky will just wipe the floor with them. Even with buying a HD box from Sky, at 99 with free install for a new customer or 60 for an existing customer, plus the subs at 120 per year, is still less than the alternative, with 30 HD channels instead of 1.25

As for Freesat itself, it definitely has a market, for all those who cannot have a dish, or don't wish to subscribe to Sky. (that's if you need a dish - I don't know)

i should have said the + and hd . but the price and the competition will beat the pvr and hd side of freesat down and the selection i mean what would the queen have?

freesat needs a dish dosent it , but freeview needs an aerial

That's where I was unsure. I guess the clue is in the FreeSat

      Re: rumour about 2009 offers

to me freesat is freesatfromsky with a different box and no interactive(AFAIK) and less epg stuff
but freeview is the new tv standard (from 2012)
      freesat = (Freeview(Television) From A Satellite Dish)
      freeview = (Television)
sky = the leader (Subscription TV Via The Best Option (Dish))

So with a DISH you have FREESAT(STANDARD) BUT you can have SKY
So with a AERIAL you have FREEVIEW(STANDARD) and soon(2012+) FREEEVIEW HD

      Re: rumour about 2009 offers

The latest offer from Sky for a new customer
      is rather disappointing.
My sister wants Sky+ but not free broadband, and Sky Talk
      for three months.
Compared to last years two sky+ boxes or
two 50 M&S vouchers, the latest offers don't compare.
Even if they shout it at you in shocking pink.

Hopefully Sky will have an alternative soon for those who just want TV.

      Great. Thanks Newsreader.
      This looks more like it.
I missed that this offer is still running - although I did do some research.
Sky Customer Care did not mention it when I spoke to them.

Maybe I'll send them a blue square of paper with
      their telephone number on.

I have been following this thread for the last couple days and wonder whether you guys with insider information (more idea than the rest of us anyhow) could offer up an opinion.

I have been a sky plus customer for the best part of four years and believe with the new telly purchased it really needs to the joy of a high-definition input.

I have to admit that I'm slightly miffed with the treatment sky is offering long-term customers as opposed to new customers.
I'm not unhappy about the new customers getting cheaper packages per se it's more to do with the installation charges.
I remember and accept when I joined four years ago I got a cheaper package than existing members.
As newsreadeR pointed out that happens in a cycle.
I got my discount way back when.

What I resent is the fact that they want 60 to unscrew two coaxial plugs install the HD box reconnect the two plugs and pair up the card.!

(I did not get a discounted install I paid.)

I have tried to ring sky several times to discuss a proposition but have been cut off on all three occasions when being handed over to someone on the higher pay grade able to call the shots.

I would like to run it by you guys to see if if it got any legs!

Sky next month will issue me with 50 worth of vouchers for introducing a friend.
I don't really want the Marks & Spencer voucher.
Do you think they would consider giving me the install for 10 or even gratis if i forfit the vouchers?

Otherwise I think I'll just stick it out till whenever they stop taking the Mickey.
Funny thing is I will add the movie Channel straight away.
I cannot see the strategy logic here.
I really cannot be bothered to go down the threatening to cancel route so I get through to the retentions department in a attempt to reach my objective that wastes both our time and resources.

My bill last week was 73.23.

      Greatful for any opinions offered.

      Happy New Year.

      Cheers lfc-rule
