      line rental

Hello, was with o2 and then got moved to Sky, service has been OK some problems which needed sorting which eventually got resolved but nothing major, speed similar to o2, line rental is with BT which is also fine so don't wish to change, I think on the letter I received regarding being taken over by Sky it said you could keep your line rental with another proivider for a year, will I then be asked to change line rental to Sky and if I choose not too then unable to keep Sky broadband?

      Re: line rental

It used to be common for customers to have their broadband with Sky and their telephone service with BT then the rules changed.
New customers were required to take Sky Talk if they wanted Sky broadband but existing customers could retain their package on payment of a 5/month supplement.
While I can't be sure I would expect a similar arrangement to be applied to ex o2 customers.

I would however expect Sky to inform you of your options at least 30 days before taking any action.

Thanks seawright, will probably need to swop providers if they add 5, as paying 7.50 at present, so cost could be 12.50 pllus line rental was looking at EE deal on money saving expert looked pretty cheap but not sure what the service or speeds are like, think I'm still on o2 eqipment at the exchange LLU

      Re: line rental

There has never been any suggestion that you would have to move to Sky line rental after a year (I am in the same situation as you with phone with BT). But your introductory broadband discount will go then as that was just for a year.

      Re: line rental

Sorry davews must have misread the letter and thought I had to move line rental to Sky, I think the discount was either 5 or it may have been half price for a year (7.50). have you now completed your first year?

      Re: line rental

From davews response it appears that you may have already been informed of the action Sky will take after one year. In that case the cost of your broadband will increase without any further correspondence from Sky. My advice is to keep an eye on your Sky bill.

There would have been a further 2.50 supplement added for not having TV but this is due to be removed soon so it may not be applied to your account.

You can get most things with Sky line rental that BT have so at the end of your contract it might be better to move to Sky Line Rental to keep the 5 discount, plus you can currently get discounts like half price on that broadband cost for 12 months.
