Question Another unwilling o2 customer thrown to the Sky.

Oh dear! Just been on Sky facebook page. There are so, so many unhappy Sky customers who can't find anyone at Sky to help them I'm feeling rather nervous about being with Sky now.

Firstly I got the letter from Sky saying they would cut my monthly o2 bill for unlimited broadband. I was concerned about the supplements for not wanting SkyTalk or SkyTv. I was told categorically that would not apply to me and that I would only be paying 9 per month for the first year because I am an ex o2 Customer.

My first bill comes through today at just under 16.00. I've been lied to and I feel very angry and unhappy.

If I'm in the wrong forum section please excuse me but I want to know if there is anything I am able to do about this. Thankyou in advance.

It all leaves a rather bitter taste in my mouth to be charged for not using a service. Surely this can't be legal?

Spunkbubbles tend to do that so I am told

Is your bill for a full plus part month ?

As far as I can tell it's for a full month.

If viewing your Sky bill online, click on the "show" link or down arrow next to the broadband charge to reveal the billing period that the charge covers.

You've probably been billed for a part month and a full month, as you are billed in advance.
The absolute most you can be charged per month for Broadband Unlimited is 15, which would be if you signed up without having satellite TV, and before Sky line rental was mandatory.

Pretty sure most if not all O2 migrants are getting a better deal under Sky.

Thanks seawright and buddbuttocks. Yes it does look like it's a part month and full month. It's my first bill and it was in an email not on "My Sky" so it looked a bit odd. I'll have to wait until the second month to see how it all pans out. Thank you.

Yes I thought you were a little bit out on your maximum monthly charge. Nice to see that you amended it.

OK Thanks but can you tell me what I should be paying if I have broadband only and no TV or line rental please? I'm still not totally sure, I'm finding these things to be so confusing these days and I'm sure it's intentional.

Broadband Unlimited without TV is 10 per month.

It is no longer available to new customers unless they take line rental. Existing customers in this situation are charged 15 per month.

A discount is being offered in an attempt to persuade customers inherited as a result of takeovers to remain with Sky.
Not sure what the discount is and whether or not it varies according to the customers existing package or perceived intentions.
Perhaps someone in the know would be able to elaborate on this point.

Re: Another unwilling o2 customer thrown to the Sky.

Your first bill will be between 6 weeks and 2 months depending on when you moved from O2 to Sky and is confused also because of the differences between the O2 and Sky billing month dates. You will also have a refund from O2 for the unused payment in advance which will be credited to your direct debit after which the O2 direct debit will be automatically cancelled. Confusing yes, but it all happened very smoothly in my case. Next month's Sky bill will be far simpler.
