      Hi James,

First of all many thanks for setting up the sky pass tool - i've used it before and its great.

I've recently had a problem with my sky router (its bricked itself, although being a DG834GT v1, its lasted pretty well) so i'm waiting for sky to send a new one. I have a spare i want to use, but it appears that the tool is down so i can't use it to obtain my adsl details (obviously using the URL injection approach is out as the old router is as dead as a dodo!).

I can access the main page (Sky router password generator) but then any of the secure URL's don't seem to work - i've tried this both from using my iPhone as a tether and a public wifi in my local coffee shop.

Don't know if you still support this, or if you have an alternative URL i can use as a stopgap but any help you can give me would be great. I'm somewhat up the creek without a paddle at the moment!!

      Many thanks in advance

      John

      Hi James

sorry if this is rude but this is the same message that i posted on a thread of yours, i just wasnt sure how quickly it would be addressed on the thread so thought i would message you, im not sure if it is normal to message you and all but thought id give it a try anyways.

"i have been reading around on a few Sky User threads about pulling credentials out of the router and all and was happy to find this link without flashing my router so thank you very much

i was curious however, instead of just using a new router altogether, couldn't you just plug your router into a seperate router via ethernet where the sepereate router has an ethernet modem in connection, and everything would just be dandy or does the sagem not support this for some reason or is it not an effecient system for example, the sagem modem not being as good as the one in the seperate router, or maybe loss of speed and quality over the ethernet connection.

any response would be helpful thanks."

Hi james .I am contacting you because you seem to have the answer to everything. I am a new member so forgive me if i am not supposed to contact you direct.
My problem is the router sky supplied sagem has limited range. At present it is set up in the extension and the signal has to go through 12 inch walls, which it does but not far.I have tried moving the router to another position ,this then reaches the other rooms but not the extension.
How can i get over this problem ?.
Can i fit a second sagem router connecting a cat 5e cable from the first router to the second one and not connect the adsl to the second one.
I can lay my hands on a D - Link DSL-2740B N router if that is any good,or is there some sort of signal booster that would do the job .I can see your a very busy man.So if you get time to help it would be greatly appreciated
      Many thanks.
p.s i am only talking about a three bedroom bungalow range wise.

Hi james, I am trying to unlock a DG934 to DG834 firmware. Everything seemed to go fine (updated and verified no problem) but now the router won't get out of recovery mode. I saw a post of yours saying "There's usually a way of fixing Netgear routers when they get stuck in their recovery mode with the alternating lights" ... any ideas of my next step ?

hi james - i'm trying to upgrade my GF's Sky SAGEM router to something with a bit more range so she can get reception in more than one room of the house! I've used your cool utility at https://www.cm9.net/skypass/ but it gives a password of e84zK3MbCR1V5/h which the new d-link dsl-2740B won't accept (it says "illegal password" on entry, perhaps it doesn;t like the '/') any ideas?? James, i read with great intrest and intrique your thread regarding your dsl credential getting tool. obviously without giving too much away i was wondering how you came about finding all this out and the algorithm used to get the password given simply a mac address and serial number

hey James how are you doing i just got connected to sky but my serial number is in a different format can you help me please. I have used your password generator but that doesnt seem to work. It may be associated with my serial which is 1NJ384BK0606A. Elsewhere in this forum the serial follows the following pattern 1NJ 3digits 2Letters and 3digits but my serial has extra characters at the end. Can someone please help me identify the password

    Sky's router policy

    by James67 on 27-01-08 at 02:52 PM
Sky are obviously very keen to make sure all its customers are using the router which Sky supplied to them, but why is that? A common explanation is that it makes things easier for customer support. Another reason that some people have suggested is that it's part of Sky company "dogma" - just as you're forced to use Sky's TV receiver, so too are you forced to use Sky's broadband router. There's probably some truth in these points, but I think there's a much bigger reason for this policy,

Bringing a Sagem F@ST 2504 back to life

    by James67 on 21-01-08 at 07:56 PM
As part of my efforts to crack the Sagem router, I managed to accidentally "brick" my Sagem router. Normally, if the router's flash memory has been corrupted, the router goes into a recovery mode which has a stripped-down web server through which you can load a new flash image. Unfortunately, I seemed to have got the router into a state where it was crashing at startup but wasn't going into its recovery mode.

Then I stumbled upon this link. OK, it's for the Linksys WRT54G

Cracking the Sagem F@ST 2504 router

    by James67 on 20-01-08 at 10:28 PM
Now don't get too excited but I've been working on the Sagem router, trying to crack it, although I'm not there yet. Actually, I'll come clean and admit that in fact, I've managed to "brick" my router.

I bought the router off eBay. I've tested it and it manages to establish a connection to Sky's network, so the username and password are still valid (they haven't been deleted from Sky's authentication server).

The CD has a router recovery utility, but the flash
