Hi james .I am contacting you because you seem to have the answer to everything. I am a new member so forgive me if i am not supposed to contact you direct.
My problem is the router sky supplied sagem has limited range. At present it is set up in the extension and the signal has to go through 12 inch walls, which it does but not far.I have tried moving the router to another position ,this then reaches the other rooms but not the extension.
How can i get over this problem ?.
Can i fit a second sagem router connecting a cat 5e cable from the first router to the second one and not connect the adsl to the second one.
I can lay my hands on a D - Link DSL-2740B N router if that is any good,or is there some sort of signal booster that would do the job .I can see your a very busy man.So if you get time to help it would be greatly appreciated
    Many thanks.
p.s i am only talking about a three bedroom bungalow range wise.

Hi james, I am trying to unlock a DG934 to DG834 firmware. Everything seemed to go fine (updated and verified no problem) but now the router won't get out of recovery mode. I saw a post of yours saying "There's usually a way of fixing Netgear routers when they get stuck in their recovery mode with the alternating lights" ... any ideas of my next step ?

hi james - i'm trying to upgrade my GF's Sky SAGEM router to something with a bit more range so she can get reception in more than one room of the house! I've used your cool utility at https://www.cm9.net/skypass/ but it gives a password of e84zK3MbCR1V5/h which the new d-link dsl-2740B won't accept (it says "illegal password" on entry, perhaps it doesn;t like the '/') any ideas?? James, i read with great intrest and intrique your thread regarding your dsl credential getting tool. obviously without giving too much away i was wondering how you came about finding all this out and the algorithm used to get the password given simply a mac address and serial number

hey James how are you doing i just got connected to sky but my serial number is in a different format can you help me please. I have used your password generator but that doesnt seem to work. It may be associated with my serial which is 1NJ384BK0606A. Elsewhere in this forum the serial follows the following pattern 1NJ 3digits 2Letters and 3digits but my serial has extra characters at the end. Can someone please help me identify the password

    Hello James67.

I am interested in enabling WOL on my dg934g, using the binary provided here: Wake on lan utility for DG834.
The problem for me is getting the files onto the router. I dont trust myself (successfully) compiling the dg934g source, and ive had no luck editing the squashfs on the existing image (from the cd).
So basically I was wondering if you still have a copy of the DG934G-telnet firmware about, or if you if you could give me a hand compiling my own.

    Thanks.

Sky are obviously very keen to make sure all its customers are using the router which Sky supplied to them, but why is that? A common explanation is that it makes things easier for customer support. Another reason that some people have suggested is that it's part of Sky company "dogma" - just as you're forced to use Sky's TV receiver, so too are you forced to use Sky's broadband router. There's probably some truth in these points, but I think there's a much bigger reason for this policy,...

As part of my efforts to crack the Sagem router, I managed to accidentally "brick" my Sagem router. Normally, if the router's flash memory has been corrupted, the router goes into a recovery mode which has a stripped-down web server through which you can load a new flash image. Unfortunately, I seemed to have got the router into a state where it was crashing at startup but wasn't going into its recovery mode.

Then I stumbled upon this link. OK, it's for the Linksys WRT54G...

Now don't get too excited but I've been working on the Sagem router, trying to crack it, although I'm not there yet. Actually, I'll come clean and admit that in fact, I've managed to "brick" my router.

I bought the router off eBay. I've tested it and it manages to establish a connection to Sky's network, so the username and password are still valid (they haven't been deleted from Sky's authentication server).

The CD has a router recovery utility, but the flash...
