Virex

I may be one of the few but I loaded Virex antivirus software.

But when I try to eUpdate it always appears to be downloading updates but gives message 'An error occurred while installing the update. The eUpdate was not completed.'

'Last eUpdate:Never' is shown.

Whats going on?

Re: Virex

It may be worth contacting the company supplying the product? My brother uses Virex for his Mac and had similar problems they (McAfee) advised him and he got it sorted.

Re: Virex

Tried Virex as it was free but got exactly same problem. In the end thought it wasn't worth bothering with so removed,

Whilst it would be fair to say Mac's don't get many viruses if any, in my experience, I wouldn't want to become complacent, so thinking of installing virus barrier instead.

Re: Virex

If Virex is no longer supported by McAfee does Sky have any knowledge of this and if so why are they still shipping it to their customers?

Re: Virex

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction - it's always easy when you know what to do!

Strange that McAfee could not give this simple reply.

As I said previously I had problems with virex as it wouldn't update. But out of curiosity I tried to follow your suggested link for an update/fix for this issue - I have looked everywhere and can't see any reference to it

Once onto the home page where do I go from there?

Re: Virex

Yeah not easy to find but go to Sky home page and after logging in click on 'Help' at top of page (next to 'log out').

FAQ

Look for 'NEW - How can I install the McAfee anti-virus program for my Mac?'

Click on which ever download is compatible with your operating system and follow instructions. Let me know how you get on.

Re: Virex

I thought viruses don't affect Macs

Or is Apple wrong

It says that Viruses don't affect Macs in their websites or are they just saying that
