Re: sky broadband on but cannot connect wireless

Hi, I just wondered if you ever resolved this issue? I am running a MacBookPro OSX 10.4.10 and appear to be having similar password problems.

I can connect via ethernet, (as I am now) and the airport works fine on most wireless networks (like Heathrow and Vienna airports). But when I click on the SKY network, it declines with password failure or Error message.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Re: sky broadband on but cannot connect wireless

as far as i can remember i wasn't doing anything wrong, i think i wasn't activated. the only thing i can think of is the settings in network, instead of using pppoe, try using dhcp, that may work???
hope this helps, if not reply back and i'll post a screenshot of my network settings.

Re: sky broadband on but cannot connect wireless

I seem to have the same issue. The wireless display on the MAC shows that it has an excellent signal, but says the password is incorrect. I have connected a pc successfully and a mac laptop, so I know there is nothing wrong with the password.

When I remove any security from the router, the mac connects ok and I can surf the internet.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: sky broadband on but cannot connect wireless

This may sound daft but indulge me...

another site reports the same issues with netgear routers and airport

try typing a $ in front of the password string - this tells the router to expect a hex password

you may just be lucky!!

Re: sky broadband on but cannot connect wireless

Hi everyone

Long time lurker; first time poster.

I've recently bought a MacBook and I'm experiencing similar problems.

My Ipod Touch will connect fine via wireless. I can connect my Dell Laptop via ethernet and wireless how ever when I try and connect my MacBook I get an error message saying "Connection Timed Out"

I can connect my MacBook at my girlfriends via wireless (Sky BB) no problem.

Plus I can connect my Xbox.

I really don't get my why my MacBook won't connect?

Any ideas?

Re: sky broadband on but cannot connect wireless

OK I think I've fixed my problem after reading on some other forums.

I changed the channel to 11 and connected first time. Apparently MacBooks prefer channel 11, then 2 and then finally 6.

This information supposedly came from Apple as well.

Hope this helps.
