Question Aiport and sky router

Hi there,

Firstly a Happy new year to you all.

Q. Having booted the IMac I always have to restart Airport to establish a connection with the router. Despite having played with the configuration settings as per the help I am having no luck with Airport connecting to the router automatically.

Any ideas?

OS version 10.4.8

I had the same situation occasionally as well. I'd log in, see the airoprt icon as being with a full signal, yet wouldn't be able to access the net. So I'd turn airport off and on again and it'd work.

However, my set up is now this, I have a netgear wired router plugged in, with an ethernet going into a linksys wireless router, working as a gateway in effect.

So what I did was enter the ip information in System Preferences>Network>Airport/TCP/IP info manually with DNS Servers also entered.

Since then it's worked okay with the need to restart airport.

Under Configure IPv4, I selected Manually and went from there.

Hope this is of some use.
