Re: MacMail!

I have 5 email accounts set up in Mail.... one of them didn't work, so I changed my MTU to 1400 and it worked.

Have a look here..... Mac OS X 10.4 or later: How to change the MTU for troubleshooting purposes Try 1492, then 1400.

If you are on 10.5 (leopard) and on airport you will have to execute the terminal command.... it is not permanent and the settings will revert to normal after a reset.

Re: MacMail!

Thanks, I'd never heard of MTU (I'm a bit backward).

Only thing is, I'm only 10.3.9 (I'm a bit backward). I'm not in front of my own Mac, but I presume it can also be altered in 10.3.9. I'll need to have a dig about in the apple forums.

Thanks, fingers crossed…

Re: MacMail!

Got it sorted. Wasn't the MTU. It was simpler than that - Doh!

In Mail 'accounts', 'advanced' I hadn't checked SSL. When I had done this for the main accounts during the week it wouldn't work, but it does with the Sky account.

All systems go! (well, apart from forwarding stuff, but I'll leave that for the other thread!)

Thanks.
