Question Suddenly slow broadband, no changes in hardware...

      Hi all,

Having a devil of a time with my Sky broadband.

      We have the following setup:

Sky Router (Sagem F@st, wifi switched off) > Apple Airport Extreme > iMac (mid-2011 i7 model, using ethernet) + iPad/iPod touch wifi

This afternoon our speed of 13-15mb dropped to between .5 and 2mb for no apparent reason.

I've been in touch with Sky and done the following trouble-shooting things so far...

      - Swapped microfilters
      - Plugged into test socket
      - Swapped network cables
      - Plugged directly into Sky router
      - Had line tests
      - Tested Netstat info using Network Utility app

The support guy mentioned there could be something wrong with my Mac, but I am doubtful as it's relatively new and the iPad/iPod are slowed down too, so it can't be just the Mac at fault.

I am guessing the router is packing up, as I've had a similar experience before. But getting Sky to acknowledge this seems very difficult.

I'm taking the iMac over to my parents-in-law's house to try their connection to eliminate the iMac as the problem.

If anyone has any pointers or tips, I'd be happy to hear them.

This is the third report of today in the Kent area.

Router shows connected at usual speed but slow.

Same here, it was fine this morning and last night. It was actually fine the whole of last year. The router shows I am connected at the speed I am usualy connected at, the speed I am getting is totally different though. It must be an issue at the exchange, although they say that they are not experiencing any problems there.
