High sync speed low download speeds

      Hi,

I was originally syncing at 14mb and downloading at 12.5mb but after contacting sky with my stats I was able to increase the sync speed to 18mb (my noise margin was quite high) but my actual download speeds have gotten no higher than 13mb.

My router stats currently give 21 db attenutation and 7db noise margin

I have numerous wired speed tests through the master socket including the one on here but all give ~13mb. Sky say that they do not accept online speed tests only that of the router and since that is saying 18mb then that is what is available.

Is it normal to have download speeds so much lower than the sync speed? Do you think it is worthwhile persuing the issue with Sky? Does it matter that I am using a Mac when performing the speedtest? I didnt think so...

      Thanks.

Do you have any other computers in the house that you can run a wired speed test from?

Re: High sync speed low download speeds

Probably something to do with the server at the other end (server you download from) it probably has some sort of limit on it to stop other peoples downloads from slowing down, you could run a speed test and find out your true download speed.

use this one Sky User | Speed Tester
