      Odd results with Mac speedtest,

When I do a speed test on my laptop the speed never goes higher than 1.75mb, however when I do it online via my PS3 the speed goes as high as 9mb, does anyone know why this may be?

The laptop is wireless but the PS3 is wired.

These are the speed test results, hopefully the link has worked!!

      Thanks guys

      Re: Speed test odd results

Wireless is nearly always slower than wired, but you may get an improvement if you change the Channel in the router. You may also be suffering from interference from nearby networks, download and use Inssider from the link below. It will show the networks in your aea and the Channels they are using. Choose one as far from those in use as possible.

Browse to 192.168.0.1 enter user: admin , pass: sky
Click on Setup > Router settings > change the channel to 13

You should be fine after that.

      Re: Speed test odd results

I don't know much about Macs but as they are reputed to be incapable of picking up malware and viruses like a Windows machine, asking you to run a scan for malware and viruses is probably a waste of time. You could try starting in Safe Mode and see if that makes any difference.

Updating the drivers to the latest version may also help.

Is it possible the network card is not compatible with the Sky router? Can you test it on another non-Sky network to see if you get the same result?

It may have been better to have posted this in the dedicated Mac section of the forum where it may be seen by a Mac user who could help. If you would like me to move it let me know.
