Measure your internet useage

SurplusMeter is a bandwidth measuring tool for Mac OS X:

SurplusMeter (Mac) - Download

However, with multiple computers and other devices on the network, something based on the router stats OR something measured by Sky and accessible via your account login would be preferable...

true, though it may be that Sky will take this approach once they start to impose their download limits. Or they may decide that it is up to you to take responsibility for your usage and install a tool of your own.

Re: Measure your internet useage

The problem tends to be other (non-computer) devices on the network - not so easy to install and run this type of software on those!!!

For instance, I've got 2 TiVos on my network that download EPG data via the internet connection - they run some form of Linux, then there's my iPod touch and my son's Nokia N95 that can both access the internet via wifi, the online fridge that re-orders my shopping from Tesco (no, no, of course not, I made that one up - the online fridge hasn't been delivered yet...)

Anyway they all use bandwidth and it all counts as part of the monthly allowance but not so easy to measure.

Lots of ISPs provide a useage tool that can be accessed by logging into your account. Come on Sky!!! - It can't be rocket surgery can it???

Internet fridge? Take your pick...

BBC News | Sci/Tech | Making your kitchen cool

Internet Fridge

(OK, I lied about it being able to order my shopping from Tesco!!!)
