Shortly converting to Sky

I have sent Sky my Mac-code (confirmed) and am awaiting the next step. I have an iMac which does not have the wireless (airport card) and connects to a Netgear DG834G router via an Ethernet cable.

I understand that Sky do not allow the user to 'configure' the router, so does the user have the ability to make the choice of hardwiring, or is the default 'wireless' only?

Also can you access your router stats to see sync speed/snr margins/attentuation etc?

Any experience shared would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Shortly converting to Sky

Thanks Richone, much appreciated. It seems the current issue from Sky is a Sagem, replacing the Netgear dg834g (my present router) which has been dropping off a lot recently (MAAF as ISP), do you know if that's correct?

Re: Shortly converting to Sky

Between now and the 31st, have a check of your wiring. From what you say about your previous BB, I'm sure it will be fine, but it does no harm to look. There is loads of info on here about it.

Re: Shortly converting to Sky

ok brian had a small landline problem lastweek with incomong calls going to bt1571 for about 75% of calls bt faults checked line twice and found high level voltage on line at exchange, this was fixed within 24 hours had previously checked all visable internal and external lines before contacting openreach

so all should be aok

thanks
Gordon
