I am constantly being disconnected from my router and when I am connected the download speed is terrible.
I am on the MAX package and live less than 1 mile from the exchange.

try connecting directly to the router via ethernet and see what happens....I was finding the same for the last 5 days, so I disabled the wireless and used my airport express as the wireless adaptor instead...it's like a different connection.

Re: Poor connection and poor speed

      Hello,
It might be that you have what they call star wiring in your house where all your extension wiring (if you have any) leaves the MasterSocket when really it should go from socket to socket and finish up on the last, also, some wiring could also be under Carpets, which can wear the cables as you walk around the House, also as you are so close to the Exchange you should get great download speeds, it could be that Sky are capping speeds, because my speed has dropped 50% + plus since I left BT BB and switched to Sky, but for 5 a month - I'm not that bothered, good luck,
      Paul

Re: Poor connection and poor speed

      I did this
DSL ZoneUK - Improve your speed - Extension wiring and Disconnection help
and it helped a huge amount, getting the sync up from 6500kbps to the full 8128, and there are now no connection drops at all in the evenings when there used to be.

You might want to try flashing the router and installing UberGT, there's guides floating around on this site how to do this (although you'll need a windows PC :@) and then you can tweak with SNR to try for a faster connection.

Could you post your line stats? (go to the router web interface, log in, on the first page at the bottom click show statistics, then copy and paste the ADSL link table. Generally your SNR needs to be above about 7dB but if it's a lot higher you should be able to get much faster (this is downstream BTW)
