      Sky support asking for password

Had a welcome call from Sky, but very surprised to be asked for my password, and that a Sky representative would have access to my password.

Passwords should not be stored, and companies should not ask for them in full... otherwise customers get in the habit for divulging it to unknown cold callers.

At the very least, should be asked for only 3 characters from a password, or a PIN.

Re: Sky support asking for password

I would imagine that is unlikely to be a genuine SKY rep, especially as you did not initiate the call.
The only time I have ever been asked for my password was when I rang support because I was having trouble logging in and had specifically asked for the rep to try logging in as me to see whether the problem was the ID or the connection.
The rep did (before I asked him to) force an immediate password reset.

Re: Sky support asking for password

The password they are asking for is not your account on line log in password. It is a separate password that is used just for identifying you on the phone, you can set it yourself once you log into your online account. It is under ‘Your details’ section, and is known as your security question, although when ringing Sky I have often found Sky refer to it as a password. It’s a single word like favourite pet or favourite teacher etc. Sky have always done this.
