Question Asking retentions for new sky boxes. No luck :(

I've been a HD customer for over 7 years. We had it on the roll out, bought a box for 300 etc.etc.etc.
We now have 3 boxes on HD and none work properly (please do not offer solutions ,as I've been through them all and back again) . I spend currently 140 per month.
We've asked retentions to replace the boxes (on advisor's say so) they said 'no dice' they said they can give me one, that's it, and that will tie me in for another 12 months too.
Now, we can cancel it all down and go to Virgin, don't want to, but all new equipment and slightly cheaper per month.
Can I cancel and put it in the wife's name as a new account and get new boxes/deals?
I really thing they do nit look after loyal customers ,only give deals to people who join for 12 months ,then cancel.

any ideas on a course of action from here?

Far be it from anyone on this forum to condone such dubious behaviour, but many have been successful in doing this.

      Too true.

Bizarrely, the same situation as my mate, on the same Exchange as you too..... but he's just moved to VM a couple of weeks back after getting no where with Sky. They keep offering him half price which he says is no good is the boxes don't work.

Just came back to say the same. Rang retentions, spun my story with a definitive '..I'll go you know,I really will...' Nada...nothing...
I'd already rang VM and they do the same package for 82. So new boxes and a discount to boot. Sorry Sky, but I've been fleeced for far too long. Cant even flog the boxes on Ebay as they're banjaxed.

Before you dump them whip out the HDDs, if they are OK you can use them in an external drive case or even in the PC itself. I am using a 500Gb drive from the box I updated as a data drive in my PC. Too slow for a system drive but fine for data.
