      thanks for response

thought had usb to serial adaptor but don't (well can't find it) so will need to buy one

also if need to ever rebuild from scratch will it be from a usb drive?

when accessing via console do you just run setup ?

Create the Install USB stick using Rufus. You'll need to download the correct install, it will be called pfSense-CE-memstick-serial-2.4.0-BETA-amd64-latest.img.gz

Once created plug it into the APU and power up, having already checked that your serial terminal is working. Hit f10 and select the USB as the boot device, then just follow the prompts, you don't run anything

You might find you have to write the stick more than once, sometimes it does not write correctly and the installer will fail at checking the crc.

Re: Sky IPV6 Settings for Non Sky routers

      Hi,

I have read this thread with interest and based on my findings can I assume that pfSense is the only 3rd party router solution that fully supports Sky's IPV6 implementation?

I am currently running Merlin's Asuswrt (380.65) firmware (ported to Netgear hardware) which has served me well over the last few years and works fine with IPV4, option 61, VPN server and VPN Client etc. However, I can find no recent references to this firmware in this thread. Would be grateful to anyone who has successfully configured IPV6 with this firmware to post their solution.

      Many thanks in advance!

I used it myself on my rt-ac88u but I had issues with the prefix being lost. Have a look under user shonk on here. I know he had some success with further changes to get it it work. Perhaps he will chime in shortly.

Re: Sky IPV6 Settings for Non Sky routers

If you dont mind having a different ipv6 prefix every boot it works fine
with no messing around either stateless or stateful

If you want to keep your ipv6 prefix

Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs (Administration / System)

      then telnet into the router
type ps and copy your exact odhcp6c string into notepad with your personal duid and such

      example..
      odhcp6c -df -R -s /tmp/dhcp6c -N try -c 00030001000000000000 -FP 0:56108 -r23 -r24 -r82 -r83 -k eth0

      vi /jffs/scripts/services-start

      Code:
      #!/bin/sh

      sleep 10
      killall odhcp6c
      odhcp6c -df -R -s /tmp/dhcp6c -N try -c 00030001000000000000 -FP 0:56108 -r23 -r24 -r82 -r83 -k eth0
(works without sleep 10 but just playing it safe)
(if you are getting problems try sleep 0 sleep 10 sleep 15 etc until one works for you)

if you dont do the script your WAN IPv6 Gateway will be blank when trying to keep your prefix
as sky require odhcp6c to prod them on every boot which it doesnt when your prefix is kept for some reason
so a simple work around is to kill the process and restart it

Thanks for the comprehensive instructions Shonk.
Neither method results in the allocation of a WAN IPv6 address so not sure how to proceed from here. Might have to hook up Sky Router (still in its box) to kick the IPv6 into life??

reboot the router dont just apply
the ipv6 request must come just after the ipv4 lease

Thanks Shonk - Still no IPv6 Wan address (using your simple config and accepting changing IPv6 prefix on re-boot).

Will try your second method when I work out what my 'personal DUID' is or should be (guessing I can't just copy your script verbatim).

      Thanks again.
