oem is the same as the full version (as far as the contents of the disc is concerned).

I assume its a bootable disc, Boot from this disc, You may need to change your bios settings!
Once you boot from it, It will ask you to pick a drive, I reccomend you do a format and install, So pick the drive and hit format, Then on the next screen of the setup it will ask for the key, Once you put it in, It will begin to install the version that, That key matches up to!
Thats it, And when you first logon, You maybe asked to activate to download updates, The first few updates have the required windows drivers aswell?!

Well if you can BOOT into it and INSTALL, Then it obviously doesnt need XP!
Andy, You just going to have to test it out, Everyone else that I know runs Vista used a full copy?

as i understand, the disc is the full version. If your CD Key is for an 'upgrade' then it will ask you to pop in the XP disc so that it can validate that you have a previous version.

If it does happen to be an upgrade ONLY, When it does ask for your XP key & CD, It is believed it invalidates your XP license so you cannot use it again?
