Vista Installation Questions

If using Windows Vista Basic Home Edition Upgrade, would the installation to start with require a validation process on your original Windows XP?
Or would the Validation be at the end to validate your New Windows Vista?

If Using the Full Windows Vista Basic Home Edition, would the clean install option be in part of the installation when putting the DVD in on your existing Windows XP, or do you have to format in the old fashioned way (Format C & use a boot disk etc)?

Re: Vista Installation Questions

1. The validation is on your windows vista only at the end of insatallation.
2. With the full retail version you can boot from the install disc by setting the cd/dvd rom drive as first boot device in bios,or you can run setup from within windows XP .

Re: Vista Installation Questions

Hi, does anybody know if there is some kind of tool to check if your system can be upgraded to vista? eg, if it is compatible etc.

Re: Vista Installation Questions

@NewsreadeR - Can you switch off the aero feature if your graphics card isn't up to it?

The advisor says my laptop can only take Vista Basic as the g-card wont handle aero.
