Re: Vista Tips to get your stuff working

Hi all
I got my vista ultimate upgrade jan 30th 07.I had a few problems upgrading from windows xp pro I prevail and now all is good.
A few important points I think need to be told so here goes.

1.In the retail upgrade pack you get 32 bit (x86) and 64 bit (x64) versions , to quickly summarize the 64 bit ultimate will not upgrade 32 bit xp pro so I upgraded my xp pro with vista ultimate 32 bit then upgraded vista 32 bit with vista 64 bit .Vista has a good files and settings transfer wizard I dont think the xp and vista transfer wizards are compatible so after I installed vista 32 bit I used the vista 32 bit files and settings transfer wizard before i installed 64 bit vista ,it works well.

2 .If you have a creative X Fi or for that matter any creative soundcard limited beta driver support for vista is available (a creative vista driver issue) but more than half the X Fi features are disabled !!
Creative have stated on their support web site full compatible non beta drivers will be here at the latest by march 07.

Apart from those things windows vista ultimate 64 bit is GREAT I love it the graphics are amazing and its silky smooth I now have 4gb of memory showing in system properties,That reminds me windows vista 32 bit will still only see 2-2.6 ish of physical memory so 64 bit is the way to go
