      Email account advice wanted

I am with sky for my fibre internet service.

I currently use Gmail for my email.

I own a domain, have done for several years and always give my details for email address associated with that domain.
The email is then forwarded to my Gmail account.

I sent some money abroad. When registering to do so, I gave the email address associated with my domain.
It looks like I am going to have to reclaim that money and have already made enquiries with 'Western Union'.

The problem is that when I send an email, it is sent using the Gmail address, not my domain address.
WU have informed me that I must send a request using the email address I used when registering for their services.

So, at the moment I am looking at paying a monthly fee for an enhanced service from Gmail that allows you to use your own email address and not a Gmail one.

Is there an alternative way to do what I want before I pay for a service I don't really need or want beyond this one issue?

If you log into the web gmail account and go to the settings, you can set the sender address there I thought? Although it does show both address on the sent email I think.

I pay 1and1 for an smtp service but otherwise do the same as you. It wasn't expensive.

With your own domain do you also have your own servers because if you do you could set up the email account in a program like Outlook, Thunderbird etc and use your own servers so that the email doesn't go via Gmail.

I don't think it includes my own servers. I believe that is extra on top of what I pay for the domain.
At the moment it seems the cheapest option is an email facility with the same company that leases my domain for 10 a year.
