      New MS Browser

Video: Microsoft's next browser is officially called Edge - AfterDawn

Microsoft's Internet Explorer successor, previously codenamed as 'Project Spartan,' is officially known now as Microsoft Edge. The software giant announced the details earlier today at their annual BUILD conference and Edge will be the built-in browser for Windows 10 devices.

Outside of the light details Microsoft has revealed in the past few months, there was little else revealed today besides the name and a teaser trailer.

What we do know is that Edge has a built-in reader, sharing features and the ability to take notes; support for the voice-activated Cortana personal assistant; minimalist design; a new rendering engine called EdgeHTML; more simplicity in features and options; tab previews just from scrolling over them and the ability to draw (?) on the page.

      Check out the trailer below:
Check out the link for the video. Be careful with this site as it has a habit of dropping PUPs.

      Re: New MS Browser

IE has gained such a terrible reputation within many on-line communities that this was inevitable. I'm just surprised that it took them so long to sort it out.

It's sad really but with the last two major version updates I had to stop using IE as it was no longer compatible with the forums and several other sites had issues too.

Weird, I have had next to no problems with any version of IE.

      Re: New MS Browser

I suspect that some of the Admin features on this forum might be the cause of some of my issues, but they are definitely present.

I've been using FF now for a couple of years and have grown to like it.

The 'sync' feature is also very useful as I can quickly pick up some sites I've been browsing on my laptop with FF on my phone and vice versa.

      Re: New MS Browser

I wonder if Samsung will object to Msoft using the name of Edge for the new browser seeing as there is a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone?
Some companies get bitchy over this sort of thing.

      Re: New MS Browser

I would not be surprised if they did. However the name 'Edge' has been in use for some years on other things, not the least the Edge - raising the status of practical, techical and vocational learning. I think they would run into the same problem as MS did when they tried to copyright Windows, it is a far too common word to claim rights over.
