New low price for BT Infinity as BT Sport added to packages

thinkbroadband :: New low price for BT Infinity as BT Sport added to packages
While there may be many who are thinking that the launch of the BT Sports channel and its free access for BT Retail broadband customers is of no concern to them, it is worth highlighting some changes to the BT Retail broadband product range.

      • Inclusive Evening and Weekend call bundles are now just weekend call bundles (midnight Friday to midnight Sunday)
      • For new subscribers who want to add Evening calls to the package, an Evening and Weekend call package is available for £2 per month.
      • The new lowest price service Broadband and weekend calls at £10 per month, plus voice line rental (£15.45 per month, £129 annually) is a 12 month contract. Service has a 10GB monthly usage allowance.
      • The entry level Infinity 1 with weekend calls and a 40GB allowance is £15 per month and carries a 12 month contract. Voice line rental required (£15.45 per month, £129 annually)
      • The cost of adding unlimited anytime calls to UK numbers has increased to£7 per month.

The change to the cost and time period for the calls bundles will be offset by the addition of the BT Sports option for many, but it does change the dynamic for those trying to compare broadband services and the myriad of options now available.

After the lack of a new pricing structure from Sky for their Fibre products, I suspect that the stage is now set for Sky to launch some interesting incentives to stay with them or to join.

If they don't then they will lose customers.

I know every business expects a certain amount of churn but let's face it they can be beaten on price on all of their comparable Fibre services and the choice to enforce use of a third rate router/hub is poor. Sure you can get round it but you shouldn't have to.

Still think unlimited ADSL for £7.50 is unbeatable though, especially if you are lucky enough to have a 10MB+ connection as my brother does (he actually syncs at just shy of 18MB!).

The latest figures show that things appear to be slowing down for Sky though.

If they are serious about wanting to be #2, with #1 as a target, then this price competition will need to be reviewed.

The ADSL product is most certainly good value. My new SFUP service has been good too for the last month. However this doesn't mean that Sky should start sleeping.

      This^

OK, so i'm very lucky in syncing at just over 21mb now, but for basic users like me:
      £7.50
Free router that always works with everything (homehub *cough*, superhub *cough*)
      Completely unlimited
      No traffic management

      Yes, unbeatable!
