As dogman says and also the spec of the pc you are installing it to.

There would no point in buying a high spec card if your cpu is going to hold it back.

      Re: graphics card upgrade

It would also be useful to know what exactly you want to use it for. E.g. You won't need an amazing card for just watching videos or playing some games...

I bought a VTX3D ATI HD7870 Black Edition last week. Confusingly, there are two variants of the 7870 GPU which use completely different silicon. The standard 7870s share the same design as the 7850 while the other version uses the same design as the 79xx series (the Tahiti core). The black edition contains one of these "Tahiti lite edition" (a Tahiti core with some parts disabled) GPUs, and has better performance than a standard 7870. They are also supposed to overclock really well. PowerColor and Saphire also sell graphics cards with Tahiti LE GPUs.

The black edition is slightly more expensive than standard 7870s, but IMHO provides a good amount of extra performance for the money. With my setup (Core i5 2500k) I can now run Bioshock Infinite smoothly on full settings.

Well if it goes on as long as his threat to change his router then the explosion may occur sometime next year.

Get what ever you can afford, my self has always used ATI/AMD cards if you are going from Nvidia to AMD then you will need to make sure all traces of the Nvidia drivers are gone from your computer.

You will need to wait for delivery, but this one does everything but make the tea.
      http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-GeForce.../dp/B00BKV3EVK

Costs more than the average PC, but who cares if you can afford it.
