Hi, can someone recommend a decent ad blocker please for Windows Vista? Just lately a whole bunch of adverts have decided to start using sound & video & it's getting really annoying. I like to leave windows open for various things I maybe looking at, but Im getting fed up with having to keep turning my sound down, or start closing windows, or go looking for volume controls on these adverts, so now is the time to block all ads.

You need a blocker for the browser, not the OS. If you are getting these pop ups when you are not using a browser then you have malware on your machine.

If you are using IE, go to Tools, Internet options, Privacy tab and tick 'Turn on pop up blocker'. There is also a free blocker available from here -

yeah, i was stating what browser on what OS i use and the blocker associated with it. Adblock as you have said

Thanks peeps. Adblock it is then. I'm using Chrome. I wasnt getting any pop ups, just a few sites I use that decided to start using audio in their ads.

there's a one for Google chrome called ad block plus i think its called its a extension for gc but if your wanting a software type were you install it in the add remove programs not sure on that could be a few

Go for Adblock Plus if you're using Chrome, it's from the people behind the "original" Adblock on Firefox:

yea its quite good i use it for youtube when watching videos because ads end up playing over the top of the youtube video so this blocks it
