SATA Cables

Can anybody advise me if it is possible to obtain a SATA cable that has 2 connctions on it just like the old ribbon cables have on them. I want to install a second DVD/CD writer in my computer but unfortunately there are no spare SATA connections on the motherboard. cheers mhos

Re: SATA Cables

That type of cable is not available, SATA controllers are designed to connect only one device, unlike the PATA or IDE which has a Primary and Secondary controller built in.

Most motherboards have at least one IDE controller for connecting optical devices, have you checked yours. If you have already bought a SATA optical drive then you will have to fit a SATA controller Card Make sure you get one that is compatible with your board, PCI or PCIexpress.
