Motherboard Enquiry

i have just been looking a pc worlds motherboards and i have noticed the more expensive versions have not got a lan port on the motherboard and only two pci ports. how do they expect people to use the internet thru a router if there is no lan port on there computer. even if you add one you are extremely limited on expansion for future cards.

what do people on here think of the way motherboards are going.

Re: Motherboard Enquiry

Personally I couldn't find a motherboard without at least one and sometimes two Gig LAN ports on the PC world website. Please give an example.

Just because the numptys at PC world can't be bothered to type out the full spec doesn't mean it isn't there. Suggest you check out the manufacturer's website if in doubt.

Re: Motherboard Enquiry

I just purchased a new package for my PC, the mainboard has two PCI and a PCI express slots, shed loads of USB ports and built in LAN. It also has decent on-board sound and graphics, so in reallity, even if there was no LAN, with all the on-board options I coulld still fit a dedicated NIC

I must admit I wouldn't purchase a mobo from PCWorld as there are far cheaper deals out there, and unless you are looking for a particular brand. My package consisted of a Biostar Motherboard, E2180 dual core processor @ 2Ghz, and 4GB DDR2 800 RAM for £125, and runs like a dream

Re: Motherboard Enquiry

I prefer Asus.

My system currently consists of an Asus P5K AiLifestyle Motherboard
Pentium E6750 Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz CPU (1333fsb)
2Gb Corsair Ram 800mhz
Asus 8400GS 256mb DVI VGA HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card
Western Digital 320GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache SATAII/300

and those items cost me £163.11 (without the hdd it would have been £116.07).

Bargain me thinks

Re: Motherboard Enquiry

Nopes, well I hope not. I swear the delivery driver was being careful.

Since then though the cost of the CPU and the mobo has gone up lol. Not to mention I think they made a mistake on the checkout process SHHHHH
