you can get your mac code instantly or within a few mins as they can generate these and send it fast, you just have to be persistant on the phone.

i ended up waiting a few days, and had a person from f2s phone me up asking why i was leaving and if there was anything they could do. i said no and the girl said she would now send the mac code. recieved it literally the second i hung up.

      Cool I Couldn't get a MAC code from F2S

      Hi All,

I've signed up for the MAX package, but Freedom2Surf said they couldn't give me a MAC code as I was already on their LLU stream. The only option was to cancel the service, which takes effect on the 1st of September. Sky told me to contact them when the line was clear to arrange the new MAX package.

      Questions :

Has anyone else had the same trouble getting a MAC code?
could I have actually got one if I pushed harder?
Is being on LLU just a smoke screen to try and hang on to custom?

Hopefully Sky won't take too long to get my line activated, and router shipped after the 1st as I'd hate to go back to dial up for any length of time.

This forum has been very useful in persuading me to migrate, along with the 14.99 a month saving.

      Thanks for setting it up.

      Kaitain

ive had no problem with getting my MAC although im not on LLU

but i got this with my MAC code from F2s .....
You will be charged up until the last day of your last monthly
term. i.e if your migration occurs earlier than the last day of your
last monthly term we cannot offer a refund for the days you have not
used. Your service renews on the following date: 2006-09-08 (year-month-day)
looks like they are going to get 2 weeks maybe 3 free out of me

      their reply

Firstly allow me to apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.

There has been a SPAM attack on one of our mail servers.

We are dealing with it, but at the moment emails are being delayed by up to an hour and a half.

The problem has now been resolved but there is a backload of emails which will take a while to clear.

      Hope this has helped

      Regards

Here is a quick summary of my migration experience from F2S to Sky BB.

16th August - Received email from sky telling me Sky BB now available in my area and gave me a band code to use within 3 weeks.

25th August - I phoned Sales@f2s to obtain my mac code. Spoke to a very nice lady who asked me why I wished to migrate. After telling her about the very poor Customer Service (same old story), she emailed me back my mac code immediately. I contacted sky on the same day and ordered the MID service.

29th August - Received email from f2s telling me my line will transfer to an LLU provider and my ADSL will terminate on 11th September.

31st August - Received sky router package via parceline and also 2 letters, one giving me my username / password, the other telling me BT should have my line active by 6th September.

So far, so good. I hope BT manage to complete the migration on the 6th September as my f2s service payment renews on the 9th. I'll keep you informed how it goes (or not).
