      Possible Vista/Asrock LAN problems (solution)

Not sure if this is the right place to post, as I was looking for hints and tips as I have a tip for anyone having problems connecting via LAN and in particular with Asrock boards using the ULI M526X LAN when using Vista.

If you have a Dual Vsta board from Asrock or any other make that uses the above LAN you may find that the LAN does not work, and no amount of driver updates will fix the problem. This is a known bug that effects this LAN adapter and neither Asrock or Microsoft will take responsibilty for it.
However if you find that your adapter is recognised though doesn't work, the following may help.
Just put your pc into standby for a few seconds and take it out again, hopefully you should find your connection is up and running.
Hope this helps anyone looking for a reasonable fix until a proper one is created by Asrock or Microsoft.

You can download this driver from the asrock site, it works with Windows Vista x 32, with the Dual sata II onboard Lan.

      ftp://download.asrock.com/drivers/ULi/LAN/Lan(352).zip

Tried that one already, it doesn't make any difference.

Re: Possible Vista/Asrock LAN problems (solution)

I have a asrock dual sata II mainboard with onboard lan, windows vista ultimate x32, and it's working perfectly with the driver mentioned earlier. Not sure if it will work on Vista x64.

Prior to this driver I was also putting the computer to sleep and awaking to enable the lan port.

Re: Possible Vista/Asrock LAN problems (solution)

Asrock are budget versions of Asus boards. I had an Asrock mobo a few years back and the USB didn't work properly on that, I had to buy a PCI USB card to get proper working USB. I've tended to avoid them since.
