Hi all,
Just got Netgear V2 router & BBand activated yesterday. No problems getting it working on my ancient Windows 98 (first edition, not SE) PC, on Ethernet wired connection. Note: just connecting up with Win98 already running didn't seem to work, rebooted & voila! Didn't use the CD at all. Already have AVG, Avast and Kerio. Have no use for the D-Link wireless router now.
Switched over from Virgin ADSL which actually wasn't bad at all. Was considering going to Tiscali - cheapest but has lots of complaints, so didn't want to take the chance. Settled for a middle course with Sky - paying one pound more than Virgin but getting SkyOne & Two etc, worth it.
Managed to persuade Sky not to charge the £30 installation cost, as I am a returning customer of their TV (not BB) and already have the dish and STB box. Also don't want engineer to call as I rather not have to take a day off work. Will check the bill carefully that Sky don't make a mistake there - horror stories of that nature abound.
Sky made one mistake though. I've chosen the basic free telephone Sky Talk option, but Sky's letter says it's the Talk Anytime. Have told them what I actually want. Hope there is no horror story here. We'll see.

Hello, just joined today. Found the site when googling sending yahoo email thru my sky account. Have had to wait 6 months to be reconnected after moving house only to find I had a fibre optic phone line!! Had to resort to dial-up in desperation. How slow is that - how did we ever manage before broadband!!

Hey,
Joined today, after my old V1 router went dead. The first part of the conversation with sky discouraged me (rudest guy ever), but the techinician was extremely helpfull.

Re: Say Hello

Hi all
I've only had sky broadband for a few weeks - impressed with the speed of the connection, but not so impressed with the telephone technical team.
However - all my problems have been resolved by skyuser.co.uk - what a fantastic resource, specifically the SMTP service (lol I sound like an advert!)
Will be sure to keep coming back to the site - I've already sent to the link to
a couple of friends who also use Sky
cheers!
Simon
