IWF response to Ofcom?s consultation on Traffic Management and 'net neutrality' | Internet Watch Foundation (IWF)
They're blocking LEGIT sites. These sites do not promote those things. Will YouTube be next? Should we ban football just because some nutters cause trouble? This is just Communism. And btw this could be causing half the slow speeds out there because you must be being rerouted through them
It's just WRONG

This isn't wrong. It may be Communism (not 100% sure on what that actually entails) but its not wrong.
This forces companies to take a more active role in preventing offending content from being accessible online. Legitimate sites should have stricter methods of monitoring what is stored and posted on their servers. If they simply allow anything to be uploaded, then they are not doing enough to prevent criminal content from being distributed.
You are right, they may not promote the content, but they need to be more proactive in preventing that stuff from being uploaded.
Youtube are very good at removing offending videos, but theoretically even they may get blocked if there is one that is not removed quick enough.
The internet needs people like the IWF, as there is no official governing body.

But it's not fair on us and it's not fair on those companies. It's not our fault that sickos might use it to share child pornography, is it? What elese should be blocked then? How far does it go? And to me, it just seems like the perfect excuse for our government to contol the Internet.
And btw, this might be slowing down our Internet, we're being rerouted through their servers
Edit: They should block torrents then. For fairness.

And what makes things worse... we're being rerouted to a company that actually asks for donations to help keep them afloat

Re: This is wrong and ISP's should not be part of it
Well I wouldn't allow stuff like that in my house and they shouldn't let it in theirs

If they cannot control what they are storing on their servers then they should not be storing it in the first place and if it means that things are slowed down to ensure that material like that is not on display then so be it.
I wouldn;t mind waiting a little longer if it meant that this type of abuse was harder to distribute.

Re: This is wrong and ISP's should not be part of it
Can't we just ban football completely?

Perhaps it might be allowed back when it can be proved that not only the violence (inside & outside the grounds), but also the taunts of sexist, racist, homophobic remarks have been stopped.
