Exclamation In September we all pay 7.50 and go unlimited

I see that in September Sky is withdrawing the Everyday package and placing everyone on the Sky Broadband Unlimited package at 7.50 a month.
They tell me that I can receive up to 20Mb unlimited broadband; but as I only get 4.0 to 4.5Mb anyway it's a moot point.
      You can also get 6 months Sky Talk Line Rental at half price if you wish. Although at the end of the letter it says;
And if you take up our line rental offer, we'll also guarantee to freeze the price of your broadband service at 7.50 a month with Sky Talk calls and line rental until January 2012.
      Another price increase to follow.....?????
I've read the t&c's twice and cannot work out if the term, "You must subscribe to Sky Broadband Unlimited for 12 months" applies to existing customers or not?

Re: In September we all pay 7.50 and go unlimited

I was just thinking of upgrading to the Unlimited package from my current Everyday package. I get the 5 discount because I take Sky Talk. The question now is when is it best to do so? I've read the various postings and it seems I can voluntarily go for the 7.50 20 MB Unlimited package on 1 June but I was wondering if I should just treat my existing Everyday package as non-20 MB and start using the extra bandwidth as Sky will take at least a month (or maybe 2) to switch me to the higher tariff. But does that limit me to a new 12 month minimum contract? Any suggestions?

Personally I'm just going to wait for them to switch me to 7.50 in September. As for starting a new 12 month Sky Broadband Unlimited contract, I've a sneaky feeling that the answer is yes!

I sincerely doubt everything I need to know is there. Perhaps everything SKY wants us to know is there. Another price rise to 10.00 a month by 2012 perhaps? Time will tell!

oh no not another price riseoh but it's in 2012 nearly 19 months away,i'm sorry but even for 10 a month i think their bb is pretty good [maybe not as good as o2 but you pay your money you take your chance ]if you dont want sky's broadband then go elsewhere its not as if sky are the only isp in the uk [and for 7.50 its pretty good value atm]

tbh Dave I agree, when the o2 BB runs out in December, I maybe tempted back, 12.50 is better than 15 and I never had an issue with the Sky BB anyway.

Re: In September we all pay 7.50 and go unlimited

I agree with both of you. I am happy with Sky broadband and even happy with the price increases. I was with BE, very happy with their speed. Got between 6.0 and 7.0Mb, but just broadband cost me 17.50. What really annoys me are companies that never tell you the whole truth.
I'm watching the party leaders debate on the beeb as well; they aren't telling you the whole truth, especially Brown who is slagging Cameron too much. Only losers slag the opposition that much. Clegg doesn't seem to slag either of them..??

Re: In September we all pay 7.50 and go unlimited

Whilst I agree on the whole truths side of things, the post I linked to, says it as it is, direct from the horses mouth.

Even so, having tried Sky and had a good service, I would have no hesitation in resigning up for 12 months anyway. I only changed as the offer I got was too good to miss, and I didn't agree with the fact that I would have to pay 15 a month with Sky. Now this is 12.50 it's not a million miles away as to what I used to pay 10 a month.

I realise I could get it for 7.50 but I don't want Sky Talk.

The debate was pants. Although I think it was the best of the three so far.
