Moving Apartments

Hi,

I've got a standard Sky box with 8mb broadband and the free evening/weekend calls option. I pay line rental to BT.

I am moving to a new apartment in about a month and I want to see what options I have regarding moving.

The new place is already wired up for sky so I don't need a dish installation however I don't know if there is a phone line or not so could be facing upto £125 to transfer or get a new number.

I have heard that Sky sometimes refund the BT installation fee, does anyone know if this is for new customers only or will they do it for movers too?

If it's only for new customers then I could also possibly use the refer a friend scheme in my girlfriends name to get a Sky+ box for £30 instead of keeping the basic one we have.

We are past any 12 month contracts so would only need a months notice to cancel the existing accounts.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Re: Moving Apartments

Hi
I'm moving in about 6 weeks and we have already booked the moving date with BT as they need 3 weeks notice to move the service on the date you request,
As for Sky we have not phoned them yet but will do this weekend so hopefully you should have your answer this weekend but a new customer in your girlfriends name does look the favorite option for cheapness.

Re: Moving Apartments

Thanks for the reply, did you get around to ringing them this weekend?

I thought of another question - is the current sky box and router now mine to keep or would I have to return them if I cancelled the account?

Re: Moving Apartments

afaik They both become your property on installation. And if over 12 months, no requirement to have connected to a phone line.
