Re: It was only a matter of time.

It won't happen. Google will appeal. Plus the US has no power over UK privacy etc As an IP of someone in the UK is personally identifiable, I cannot see how Google would be bound to release it.

Worse case is Google will spin it out with appeals etc and only those in US will have their information divulged.

Following the launch of its billion-dollar lawsuit, YouTube introduced filtering tools in an effort to prevent copyright materials from appearing on the site.
Is this going to be the thin end of the wedge and the slow death of sites like youtube?

Re: It was only a matter of time.

You Tube although good for me and you and the rest of the Internet's users, hasn't actually made any money for Google.

Think about it, loads of companies release videos for their music, TV programmes etc with links back to that company's website, absolutely free of charge. This is where Google went wrong.

They should have charged companies for adding their profiles etc and then a commission on every link sent back to that company's website.

Google won't make any money from You Tube unless they charge for adverts, instead of relying on people to click on Google ads.

As for the money they are going to lose in this law suit and any subsequent cases, I think I have to agree, it may lead to video content sites shutting down.
