      It's pretty easy.

The Wii will detect the Sky router SSID and you just need to enter the corresponding password.
Use internet options to enter the default gateway, (Sky router ip address) for a DNS if you have problems getting on to the internet

Re: Nintendo Wii - is the password the network key?

      Hi
The SKY network has been detected.
Is the password key the same as the network key??
      Thanks

Yes that's right, the network key which I think is the WEP password in the Netgear router. You would be better changing the password and using WPA though.

Bit off topic but a great site for flash games that you can play with the Wiimote (you can also play them on the pc)

Re: Nintendo Wii with Sky Broadband????

sorry but can anyone help me further.
I typed in the netgear password from the piece of card which came with the sky disk... also on the Netgear router page...but it can't recognise it.
It does link to my SKY network.
Unsure which setting to us if I try to do it manually.
Any further help/ links would be appreciated.
I'M not too good with technology.
      Thanks
      Allison

Re: Nintendo Wii with Sky Broadband????

You need your SSID & Authentication Type (wep or WPA-PSK ) from your routers config screen (i am not with sky so cannot help with these settings)

Go to Wii options (round button bottom left)

Wii settings , Click Right to go to screen 2

      Click internet

      connection settings

      click connection

      wireless

      manual setup

here enter your SSID then save, now use the sideways arrows to move through the next screens, you will have to add the Authentication Type (wep or WPA-PSK ) i mentioned earlier in the security screen , most of the others can be left on auto. (remember to save on each screen)

I had MTU set at default "0" and it worked fine.

Note - on the security screen i forgot to mention you need to click on the type you are using and will need to enter your PSK (Pre-Shared Key) if using WPA-PSK e.t.c.

Re: Nintendo Wii with Sky Broadband????

      Hi thanks for the above.
In the end all I had to do was access my Sky Netgear Router page and change the channels from 6 to 1.
      It then connected automatically.
      thanks again.
      Allison
