Yeh im on Max package get great line stability and download speeds, but my ping is 40ms at best. Id much rather have 8mb or lower and have a better ping as a play a FPS at a high level and ping is vital for me. Ive rang sky on at least 5 occasions hoping one of the technicians will turn interleaving off for me but so far all of them have said they wont.

keep phoning you might get lucky. i've phoned a couple of times to ask them to uncap me from 8meg but they don't > but they do offer me the option to downgrade to the connect package and i think i may take it as the pings on max are too high.

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

the difference between 20 to 40ms is basically non existent, a few of us on sky quite happily play 2142, counter strike and have not had any performance loss at all on the max package, on my old isp i used to get pings of around 15-25ms now i get 35-55ms and cant tell the difference at all, and i think others on max will agree with me that there is no performance loss or extra lag.

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

I average a ping of 50 and tbh cannot tell any difference whatsoever. There is no problem for me when playing games. tbh I am glad my ping is at 50 ish as I do not have the reflexes of a fly and so would not benefit anyway.

Also Zub - Please refrain from swearing or circumventing the swear filter, although I accept you are upset with Sky, I am sick of my children asking what the ***** are for on your profile and the previous ISP thread. I have since corrected those.

is'nt that why the filters there??? i'm not circumventing it am i??? where have i circumvented it??? if i have then i apologise for this.

P.S. - Why are your kids on this forum??? dont they have something more entertaining to do rather than watch you surf lol only joking

AND HOW CAN YOU NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 20ms and 50ms?!!!!!! i mean you must have really bad reflexes to not notice the difference. to me the difference is quite large TBH.

Lets move on, we are a family friendly forum.

My reflexes must be very poor then but I can play BF2142 no probs

if you can notice the difference between 30ms then you should be on telly, there are 1000ms in a second so you can tell the difference of 0.03 of a second ? which happens to be 30ms thats faster then a blink

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

i refuse to believe anyone can recognize a 20ms difference with the naked eye, even fighter pilots don't have that type of reaction.
