Does anyone know why the pings are bad?

Are people using too much bandwidth, is it an issue with ADSL2+ or is the sky network using a strange form of QoS?

I'm aware of the fastpath V interleave effect, it however doesn't really account for all the latency as I am on fastpath and still get pings much higher than some other ISPs.

I have my suspicions that its not just whether you are on fast or inter. I think it may also be a routing ? problem. After the connect network went down around a fortnight ago on reconnection via a different dns my ping dropped by 10.

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

Can't post a tracert, I'm not at home, but I remember most of the latency always occurs the 1st hop after my router.

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

always does seem to be the first hop after router. As far as Im aware LLU means that sky equipment is installed within the BT exchange and this im guessing would be the 1st hop.

Oversold network it really looks like to the lamen

They've got the money - and, from what I have been told, the will - to upgrade as & when is necessary to prevent the sort of congestion & slow down seen elsewhere on other ISPs.
